The Cabin is a petite little farm stall just outside of Clocolan with a few odds and ends to purchase and a small coffee shop. This year they hosted a number of stalls for the cherry festival with some fresh produce and local crafts. The rusty cars and little kids provided some interesting photo opportunities.

For many years Ficksburg has hosted a festival for the cherry harvest each year in the second week of November. Years ago it was an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the reaping with parades and cherry pip spitting competitions. However, it has somewhat lost this charm. Nevertheless it is the one time in a year when Ficksburg (a little town on the border of Lesotho) is booming with activity. And of course, the cherries are fantastic!
Every year for Cherry Festival the Methodist Church puts on a display of flowers. Back in the day I used to showcase an arrangement but unfortunately this year I didn’t have the time. The proceeds (at R25-00 each) go to the church fund. This money also gets you a cup of tea and 2 slices of home baked cake. This is always particularly mesmerising and a great photo opportunity.
